Life Lately + A Real Mom Reality Check

Big changes around here 😲 my daughter just started public school, and her first day was a big success! Grandma is over the moonπŸ™„, Did I just eye roll grandma?😣Yes... yes I did, and I’ll admit, I may have teared up just a little watching her head through those doors with her backpack bouncing. 😭 😍πŸ˜₯πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’• Yeah ok, we get it. At the same time, I’ve stepped into a new chapter myself: graduate school at Liberty University for Clinical Mental Health Counseling after finishing my B.A. in Christian Studies. “Busy” feels like an understatement, but it’s also a very encouraging things are moving forward πŸ˜‡.

Now let’s be real. You know me, I love a good system, a tidy routine, and a hack that makes life run smoother. But here’s the truth: not every single morning goes as planned, no matter how many times I've nailed it. Some mornings I'm just tired πŸ˜’, so what then? Well, that depends on a lot of unpredictable factors πŸ˜…, like if I have frozen pizza stashes and feel like being caught with a messy table top, toys in the floor, coffee in my hand, and a bathrobe on when company comes knocking... Yes, that happens. πŸ‘Š
And you know what? That’s okay. 😁

Somewhere along the way, moms were handed this picture of perfection, sparkling kitchens, fresh muffins, and smiling children lined up like it’s a catalog shoot. But the truth is, real life isn't like that. And sometimes the most beautiful part of motherhood, or just wife-life, is found in those messes, when we’re laughing at spilled cereal instead of crying over it, or when we remember that “picture perfect” isn’t the goal. Love is. Presence is. Grace is. So take my tips with a grain of salt if your not feeling it this morning. I get it. πŸ˜‰πŸ’—

As Proverbs 31:28 reminds us, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed.” Notice it doesn’t say “her house is spotless” or “her planner never makes room for ice cream and tissues.” It says she’s blessed because her love and faithfulness are what her children will remember most.

I don’t want to contribute to that Instagram-perfect image that leaves other women feeling like their efforts aren’t enough. Because your hard work, the lunch you threw together in five minutes, the pep talk you gave your kid in the car, the mountain of laundry you tackled (or didn’t!), all of it is valid. It all counts. πŸ‘

So here’s your friendly reminder from one hustling mom to another: If you're still doing... You are doing great. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s faithfulness. And sometimes faithfulness looks like showing up with bedhead, handing your kid a Pop-Tart, and whispering a prayer that God makes up the difference.

Your Turn!

What’s your funniest “not-so-perfect” mom moment lately? Drop it in the comments so we can laugh (and cheer) together. Because if we can’t laugh at ourselves, we’ll end up missing the joy in the very season we prayed for. And it's on my to-do list to start getting some real photos on here to create more realistic expectations, cause AI makes a lovely kitchen, but mine is a little lower budget! 😜

Happy hustling!
