I wrote this poem years ago during a season of quiet wrestling with myself, and today, I’m sharing it as a reminder that there is a time honesty is worth revisiting. Sometimes the truest thing we can be is an open book.

My Lord: My Strength
Forgive a failing to appreciate,
The gift of free will when I can’t concentrate.
I strive within the thoughts of my heart
To bend to the truth your words impart
Your love in purpose sets me free
While bondage the world sets out to be
I want the person the mirror crafts as I
To be made by your strength less cruel a lie
I long for the pureness your spirit can confer
To consign to me a newness of nature
Lead me lord that I may see
Only as a soul who lives upon one knee
Bind my thoughts which burn in sin
Cause to cease the struggle within
I cringe over memories of causing you grief
Lord bestow upon your servant relief
Empty me I pray of myself

This piece now lives on my Mamma’s Heart: Poet’s Soul page, if you enjoy heart-whispers like this, I’d love for you to stop by and explore a few more.

Your Turn!
Have you ever written a poem, prayer, or honest reflection that helped you process a hard season? Feel free to share your words, I love reading and sharing this type of reflective poetry, or just let me know you were here.

Happy hustling, and heartfelt healing. šŸ’›
